Title: Coalitions
Description: New Recruitment Idea

Electrilyte - September 10, 2006 03:01 PM (GMT)
I've been thinking recently, my original plan of inviting SGs and then absorbing them into the Enforcement group wasn't working. And I think the reason why it wasn't working was because of the old saying, "Why buy the cow, when you can get the milk for free." The "Milk" has been our amazing teleporter room, and let me say that it was being enjoyed, for free, too much. Earlier yesterday (09/09/2006), we got a coalition message for us to pay our rent, for the express purpose of having them use our teleporters.

We had, in essence, been letting people get too much from us for free. So from now on I propose the idea of making coalitions, finding the good players in them, and then after 2 weeks or so, breaking the coalition. We will let people get used to the idea of what a good base, a talkative and helpful SG feels like, and then we drop them. We'll leave them wanting more. Good players will naturally have an open invite to the Enforcement Group

Our strategy for doing this is to network with SGs across the server. It will be the secondary reason why we never keep a coalition for extended periods of time. With this we should be able to gain new players, as well as spread our name and become a more recognized SG.

I don't want to do open invites. I don't want to shout our names across zones like spamming FoF does. I want recruitment, I want eliteness, I want people to fly across zones and look twice at our characters names because it has "The Enforcement Group" right beside it.

SWEET. and they will also look twice cuz they will recognize our awesome sg uniforms. go team enforcers!

Soul Embrace - September 10, 2006 06:34 PM (GMT)
So....you are wanting to get folks in there SG's to drop there SG's and join us? And are we no longer going to be coalitioned with Pryde? I don't think it is fair for us to hold what the Legion of Steel does against good SG's like Pryde......

Jousting Kamikaze - September 10, 2006 07:06 PM (GMT)
I don't think I have ever once seen any other sg talk over coalition chat.. it makes me self-concsious because I never know who is listening. But yeah that idea sounds good.

Adorai - September 10, 2006 11:22 PM (GMT)
We agree with you about Pryde (notice we did not break thier coalition when we broke Steel's) they are polite and are not just using us for our Teleporters...the idea with breaking and joining and what not would be for new coalitions, however if we do fall in love with another SG and just want to coalition with them like we do with pryde we would still be open to do so, however some of the original point of getting Steel was to take thier players since we liked a few of em and were told by them that the rest of the SG was good, however due to the fact that it feels like they were just taking advantage of us...and we were not accomplishing our goal...we dropped them for thier rudeness...we do not expect the same from pryde as we did from them.

Electrilyte - September 10, 2006 11:23 PM (GMT)
Actually I'm fine with Pryde, they are more of a personal friend to the coalition than the average SG we'll come across. This is just an ambitious idea to recruit. I'd love to know your new opinion on the matter with reguards to that information Emb.

Soul Embrace - September 11, 2006 04:11 AM (GMT)
Yes, now that I understand alittle more, I think you have a great idea. I agree with the fact that I am a little iffy about who is listening.....I had issues with Steel anyway. I never saw anything about them that I liked anyway. And about the Chat aspect of it...we can set our coalition chat to have either on their leaders hear us, or no one at all.....

Adorai - September 11, 2006 04:50 AM (GMT)
true but why coalition with people who can't talk to us? That seems a bit dumb...unless we want to just let them use our base...maybe just leaders I could see...but none? Or maybe at least while we have "touchy" discussions (like if we hate thier coalition)...I mean if we think they would be better suited with another SG as a coalition....

Soul Embrace - September 11, 2006 04:46 PM (GMT)
I understand that. I was just saying that we do have the option of turning it off or down. So that some in our SG feel better asbout talkking on coalition chat. and they always have the option of talking in SG mode if they are that uncomfortable....

true true

Electrilyte - September 14, 2006 11:52 AM (GMT)
Well I made a post yesterday on this topic, but I guess it timed out. For those of you who didn't know we are starting to impliment the NARE (Networking and Recruitment Effort). To acheive this goal we will be creating coalitions with smaller SGs and allowing them to see our base, use our teleporters, and group up with all of our esteemed members. Be preared to handle questions and comments from some of the more green players of the game. After a period of 2-3 weeks (Less time for the younger SGs) we will break the coalition for the purpose of networking to newer SGs. During the time we have newer SGs as coalitons, we will be establising our prowess and dominance over the game. When we break the coalition we will collectively brainstorm and pick out chosen players with potential and extent an invite to them into our guild. With the way that issue 8 is going to change SGs, I want as much good, fresh blood in the SG as possible. In the mean time, we will continue to utilize Legends until such a time is no longer needed.

Our very first temp coalition was established yesterday (14 Spet 06), named Protector of the inncoents.

Let's show their good members why they should be Enforcers.

Jousting Kamikaze - September 14, 2006 12:48 PM (GMT)
Aw does this mean I can't ask noob questions in coalition chat anymore? :(

Electrilyte - September 14, 2006 12:54 PM (GMT)
Jousting, feel free to act like normal. This will show other guilds we are tolerant of n00bs and have a very nice equal opportunity policy for handicap people to become enforcers.

jk ;)

The fact that I was the leader of Legions of Steel, this is highly disturbing, I would also like to say "[Censored]" to any people who criticized it. We were not very active, but we were new and growing, for you to claim that we detracted from your play in any way shape or for is ludicris and in no way were my members ever belligerent or rude to EG. The fact that you planned to farm my SG also disturbs me and I am highly considering withdrawing my new Coalition request as now I am enlightened to this unethical "policy" of yours

Edit made for content.

My coalition request has hereby been withdrawn and my characters are being pulled as I am typing this. FYI I will warn future SGs of this manipulative process and will do my best to discourage you from gaining members from existing SGs.

Troubled Adn Angered,
Demonata

Demonata makes an interesting point about Ethics. Farming SGs for members is hardly the case. You'll see topics recently on the official COH boards that talks about Merging SGs; this is the essence of the networking ideal which we will strive to obtain.

As it is said, "Why reinvent the wheel?"

We are giving people a chance to join a much bigger, knowledgable collective. Why should they have to struggle to muster together a TP room, when one is already created right here in our base? We want good players with good personalities. I'm looking for my next teammate, ya know? If you want to earn prestige to show dedication and look for the over all goal of the SG, so be it. Do I want us to grow in prestige, sure? But in my eyes we're already in the top 20 SGs on the server, so what if the stats don't show it. In the Enforcement Group we've got some of the finest players Freedom has ever seen.

What we offer as a SG makes other SG pale by comparison. We have forums, websites, a base that shames many others, a very generous SO and HO policy, and our own TeamSpeak Server. This is not to mention the fact that as a SG leader we have currently spend 100+ dollars to reward some of our members with copies of CoV so that they can share in the base and Villain experience. (Soon this generousity will extend to GvE Codes, so stay tuned!)

Will we stand idly by as coalitions leech our TPers and then yell at us when our base becomes unavailable? By no means! Such lack of respect and unethical game play shouldn't be tolerated. Our SG members are the life blood of the base. We have Amazing players, and they do an amazing job in their capacities. Coalitions should not be a way to cheapen the hard earned accomplishments.

We're sorry that Demonata is against our policy. But what I think is really at stake here is that Demonata is taking responsibility for the immature actions that his previous SG members made. As a leader that is very commendable. Did he take it a little hard, and respond a little harder? Maybe more than we would have liked due to the fact that the obscenities in his post will be censored. In the end Demonata leaves us with a warning; but his warning is off key. Without a doubt, no one in the Enforcement Group has never tried to steal players as I assume he alledges is our goal. What has taken place is a common accurance in any MMO game with organized player unions. Open invitations are extended to players of desirable calibur. Some SGs aren't active, some SGs have a different focus, Some SGs play in different time zones, isn't it a players objective to find the SG that's right for him and not stay in a SG just because it was his first SG invite? Recently we've had 2 distinct players enter the Enforcement Group: New Age Rook, and Thalion. Rook came to us from a higher ranking SG - he was dissatisfied with the inactivity of the group and has since fallen in rank with the nightly groups we run. I hope he enjoys it here =). Thalion joined up and promptly left within a half hour. His reasoning was that he wanted to join a Brazilian SG as he was also from Brazil and liked the idea of the SG. Thalion has an open invitation back to The Enforcement Group, we wish him all the best.

If this isn't ethical, then I don't know what is.

Adorai - September 24, 2006 05:35 AM (GMT)
First, I would like to know what is unethical about merging, many companies do it all the time, I also don't know what is wrong about us trying to get the best players into our SG, again businesses do that all the time higher pay, better health plan, etc. I am sorry if you are unhappy with how we handled Steel, however members of that SG were complaining to us over coalition to pay base rent, and I am sorry but it was rude and uncalled for so we broke our coalition off with them. Besides that one insident we really liked Steel as I beleive I said before.

I would like other SG members opinion on what Demonata said. I feel like we are an SG looking for the best and brightest, or those who are moving in that direction, I feel that to find those players we, for the most part, offer members from other SGs a chance to join, it's not a sin to put the choice in the hands of the players already in an SG, the best players are usually already in them, I wish that were not the case. It's not like we're heading out to hurt SGs by taking thier members, but I feel like we are not going to find these great players in Atlas calling for members to join. Yes we would have a full SG, yes we would get some quick prestige from some low lvls, but we would not be the tight group of friends we are, we would not be able to depend on each other as we do. I feel like making and breaking coalitions works best, do to the fact that I know at least I for one rarely group with non-coalition/SG members, so making and breaking coalitions gets our name out more, and allows us to see who is good easier. However this is my opinion, and you are welcome to disagree and maybe you can change our mind about how we run coals, we are open and hoping for opinions.

I think the way we run things is the right way, we are looking for the best people to play with, as we always have, back when we first started that was our goal, our SG was never very large (or so I thought) we never got to the member cap back then, but we had great people to play with, when we came back and all those great people were gone and we had to find new ones I never thought we would reach our cap, I never thought we would get to the top 100, much less the top 50. But apparently finding solid players, and good people is the way to getting to these places, and I think that is what we have done. We only wish to get more of these great players, we thought this was the best way to do it (both for us and for the players we are getting). As I said a few times before I would love opinions on this matter, including more from Demonata.

Flame got us joined with the Freedom Gaurd. From what I have seen they are small but those who play are active, Apostle (for those who remember/know him) is the leader. Thier forum is http://thefg.forumer.com if anyone wishes to go there to keep up with what they are doing, They are happy to have you sign up to thier forums so feel free.
