Title: CoV SG
Electrilyte - October 3, 2006 05:31 PM (GMT)
So as a couple of you know, a few of us play some villains on the Triumph server. Recently, there has been a SG on that server that has picked up our members and been very generous to them (read: PLs and influence).
So we've got a little bit of a fork in the road: Do we start our own SG on triumph? or do we follow under the wing of a more established group? I'll list the pros and cons that I can see below.
Starting our own SG (Pros):
We would have something of our own, which we could shape and mold the way we wanted, invite who we wanted and have no pressure of rules of playtime or whatnot for our characters.
If the fixes in base rent get patched, we could maintain a SG that would last throughout time. This would basically give us a home for whenever we needed.
Starting our own SG (Cons):
We would have to start from scratch and earn everything we need gradually.
As a couple of us have stated (me included) my ties to CoV are limited, as my heroes are my primary focus. So starting anything like a SG that might desolve in the future might seem pointless.
Joining a SG (Pros):
If their generousity continues we could get alot of free things and quick lvling.
Instant access to fully loaded bases.
Joining a SG (Cons):
Possible future policy changes could have us kicked out on the streets with nothing but the costumes on our back. The SG in question has already gone through a "revolution" of sorts, with all their members kicked.
Split loyalties. To be frankly honest and very human, as one of the SG leaders of the Enforcement Group this has crossed my mind. I hope that this doesn't shock anyone, but I earnestly enjoy every member of the Enforcement Group, so there's always a worry that some other SG on some other Server is going to snatch you guys up. It's a jealous worry, and it's a selfish worry, but I secure enough to admit it. Now don't get me wrong, this isn't about my fear of a loss of leadership or whatever. I think whoever wants to lead and can lead should start the SG. Really I dont even think I do so much leading on CoH, mostly I just look at myself as being friends with everyone and I get to enjoy grouping with you. (There are a couple of times when I doubt my leadership abilities in the Enforcement Group, but this isn't about me nor is this a SG therapy session, so I digress)
Anyways, this is what I can see now, I'd be interested to see what everyone else has to say, and I look forward to a wider scope of the situation. Let me know what you all think. This applies to people who dont even play on Triumph, because should you ever want to come visit or play, I'd like to be able to be in the same SG with you even there.

Back when its was just me, you tazz, evil and Achromic over there the getting into another SG was slightly more fesable (SP?) however more and more of the enforcers are joining triumph for Villians. I feel like another SG may love us when we are active (which for me and Elec is not much for villains...) but if we slope off on the signing on and earning them prestige they will kick us, other SGs wish to grow, I don't fault them for that, with that in mind all prestige we would earn for them is lost to us, so then we would either have to start from scratch (and all that prestige we had earned is gone) or switch SGs where not having that prestige would not matter, but that means every time we are dropped we have to search out a new SG. I personally think starting our own is the best option, but I will follow what the majority over on the villians server wants.

Well I don't wanna be selfish. The Enforcement group *has* to be a time consuming (and well done) endeavor already. My CoV is on the Freedom server anyway..... :P

Yeah I think trying to lead two sg's on two separate servers will be spreading the quality a little thin. If Obsidian Order is willing to have us and help us with inf and other things as we level, why not save the work for ourselves and let them do so and give them our prestige in return? They have helped me a lot so far and I would have definite second thoughts to leaving them if you guys did happen to create a new sg, if only for the 2 chars I have in their sg. Another thing is that I get the feeling at this time not many will be active villian side (especially the leaders, except maybe mike) so the sg would probably not get very far anyway.

Edit: taken care of, edited to eliminate confusion

yeah active me and elec are not thats the main reason I worry about being in someone elses villian sg...I don't want to work for prestige to get kicked when I don't sign on for a month...

Well I can understand that... too bad there isn't a way to take a CoV toon from one server to another or I would. That said, and if, by some miracle, it was possible to do, I would join an Enforcer CoV sg, for that very reason. Yet then I am dreaming...

I thought we had a sg on freedom, I have a few villians over there, but I don't even play them enough to commit to a sg. They wouldn't stay in long anyway.

we do...sort of...flame runs it...but we mainly play on triumph due to Tazz switching servers for heros for us, so we switched our villains to his server. so we have an SG on freedom but the villians a nice chunk of us are more active on (though still not very active for a few of us) is Triumph
